Your content needs a strategy. Your brand needs a voice.

Good design only goes so far. If you want to reach people and convert visitors into customers, your messaging needs to resonate with them. As a brand voice agency, we can help.

What is a "Brand Voice"?

A brand voice is the foundation of how a business/organization communicates with its audience. It not only sets the tone for how you talk (or write), but who you’re talking to and what you’re talking about.

With a well-defined brand voice, you can…

Connect with your audience on a personal level.

Establish your authority, values, goals, and general style.

Grow your brand & create future content more easily.

Why Your Brand Needs a Voice

Are you struggling to connect with your potential customers? You may think it’s because your website isn’t getting enough traffic, or your design doesn’t look cool enough. While site traffic and a well-designed logo are helpful, there is something that’s more critical: your message.

You could have an amazing website that’s flooded with traffic, but if your message doesn’t resonate with your target audience, it’s all meaningless. This is where a brand voice is critical. An effective brand voice goes beyond establishing your company’s personality. It creates a story that connects you with your ideal audience, sending you on a journey together that ends in success.

Does this sound like a convoluted process? It doesn’t have to be.

This Blank Page is a brand voice agency that collaborates with companies, nonprofits, and sole proprietors to help them define and refine their messaging. We take you from the swamp of muddled messaging and guide you to a beautiful valley of sharp writing, effective engagement, and lead generation.

How to Use Your Brand Voice

Megaphones on a pole | Brand Voice Agency

Have you ever read or watched something, and it immediately resonated with you on an emotional level? Maybe you watched a movie, and thought “that character is me,” or you saw a social media post, and you thought “it’s like they’re in my head.”

That’s what effective brand messaging should do for your customers. It creates an emotional response. It makes them feel seen and heard.

But that’s just the first part.

You identify your character and their problems. Then you provide a way out. This is where your actual company comes into play. You establish yourself as not just a solution but the solution. You understand what they really need. That’s why you created your brand in the first place.

With their trust, you can share your plan and guide them towards the desired action (or actions). The path should be clear and simple. Once they’ve taken the action, you’ve earned a new customer (or at least a new contact), they’ve begun their journey, and the story can move into the next act.

What's the Process?

At This Blank Page, we’ve taken 13 years of experience in digital marketing, design, and development, and we’ve built out a simple process for creating your brand’s voice. We’ve seen what works (and what does not work). For every client, the journey can look a little different. We always customize our approach to ensure it aligns with your goals.

That said, this is the general flow you can expect.

Assess Your Site

Before we can truly begin, we need to understand where you’re at. What do you do? What makes you unique? Do you have a website? How is it performing? What sort of marketing initiatives do you have in play? What are your current goals and priorities?

We’ll perform a thorough site analysis (assuming you have a website), examine competitors and peers, perform some SEO research, and put together a summary of all of our findings.

Define Your Audience

Once we’ve come to an understanding of who you are and where you’re at, we turn our attention to who we’re trying to reach. Depending on your organization, it may be a singular persona or a handful of characters. It’s best to start as broad as possible, and then we can narrow down as needed.

We’ll determine where they’re currently at, where they’re trying to get to, and what’s preventing them from getting there. It sets the stage for how we will engage them.

Find Your Voice

Now we can start establishing your brand. How are you going to help your audience? What makes you equipped to do so? Why should they trust you?

All of this will factor into how you speak to them and about yourself. We’ll also define your general tone and style. We’ll refine what you want to say and what you don’t want to say.

Map the Journey

Your audience is navigating into new territory. They need to know where to go. We’ll define and refine your process. Then we can chart out the path the user will take, step by step.

While there’s always a preferred path, some audience members may want to take the long way around. That’s why we always create secondary and tertiary routes.

Create the Story

At this point, we’ve done a lot of planning & workshopping. Now we get to truly create something. For websites, we’ll typically start with the homepage. We’ll write out and wireframe a new homepage that speaks to your audience, establishes your brand, and brings visitors to clear calls to action. This may be done across interior pages or new landing pages as well.

In the simplest terms, we’re creating an effective sales funnel that will turn potential customers into actual customers. They find what they’re looking for. You provide what they need. It’s a happy ending for everyone.

Of course, the end of one story is typically the beginning of the next. But we can cross that bridge when we get there.

If you’re ready to find your brand voice and begin a new story, our agency is here for you.
